When you cast a spell on an NPC, a resistance check determines if it lands. Your Hit Ratio (Magic Skill + MAG above 50 + gear) is compared against the NPC's Magic Resistance (MR): (HR / MR) × 50, clamped 15%–99%. MAG 50 or below adds nothing. Endgame bosses (MR 100) need HR 198+ for 99%.
The Hit Chance Formula
When you cast a spell, a resistance check determines if it lands. This is separate from the casting success check — even if you successfully cast the spell, the target can still resist it.
Hit Chance = (Your Hit Ratio / NPC Magic Resistance) × 50
Clamped between 15% (minimum) and 99% (maximum)
Your Magic Hit Ratio
Your Hit Ratio is calculated from three sources:
Source
How It Works
Example
Magic Skill
Your Magic skill level is the base
Skill 100 = base 100
MAG Stat
Only counts above 50. Each point over 50 adds +1. MAG ≤ 50 adds NOTHING.
MAG 100 = +50
AddAR (gear)
Attack Rating bonus from equipped gear
Varies
Your HR =Magic Skill + (MAG - 50 if MAG > 50) + AddAR
Important: MAG 50 or below is a hard threshold — it adds absolutely nothing. A character with MAG 1 and MAG 50 have the exact same magic hit chance. Every point above 50 matters.

Your Hit Ratio: 150 —
Hit chance vs NPC (MR 100): 75%
Endgame Target: To reach 99% against MR 100 NPCs, you need HR 198+. That means Magic Skill 100 + MAG 100 + at least 48 AddAR from gear.
Your Magic Resistance (PvP Defense)
When another player or NPC casts a spell on you, your Magic Resistance determines how often you resist it.

Note: Unlike physical DR, magic resistance uses the same stat (MAG) for both attacking and defending. A high-MAG mage is both harder to resist AND harder to hit with magic.
